Microdermabrasion in The Woodlands & Houston, Texas

Microdermabrasion is a modern day cosmetic procedure that is available to people who want to look good without experiencing the pain of undergoing surgery. It is considered an anti-aging treatment that helps eliminate acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, texturally rough skin, striae, and photo-damaged skin. In comparison to cosmetic surgery, it is more affordable, has fewer side effects and is effective on all skin types and colors that is why it is becoming more and more popular.

The procedure is often referred to Microderm or “sand blasting,” in which the outmost layer of the skin called, stratum corneum, is being stripped off using light abrasion to remove sun-damaged skin or lessen scar and dark spots on the skin. It uses a closed vacuum device or machine that gently sprays aluminum oxide crystals through a tube, into a hand piece and onto the skin. The machine mixes the gentle abrasion of the particles with suction to remove the dead and damaged outer layers of the skin. The skin debris and particles are then sucked back into the tube and into a waste canister for disposal. The crystals gently polish your face and the suction stimulates blood flow and collagen production thus removing unwanted skin irregularities. It does not apply to severe or sunken scars though.

Treatments, in most cases, take about 15-20 minutes depending on the area and it does not require anesthesia. It's usually done to the face, chest, neck, arms or hands. To achieve the best results, most physicians requires 6-12 treatments, 3-4 weeks apart. Undergoing Microdermabrasion gives you visibly glowing, healthy, younger-looking skin.

Side effects, however is possible but minimal. Some experiences red streaking or mild redness on the skin after the procedure. This can then result in dark patches or brown streaks, which will take several weeks to resolve..
